Chagall exhibition, Paris – New York

From February 17th 2023 to January 7th 2024, the Atelier des Lumières is honoring Marc Chagall with a digital exhibition presenting the artist’s creations and all of his work.

The exhibition notably highlights the key role that Paris and New York played in the artist’s career.

On the one hand, Paris, his chosen city, where the early 20th century avant-garde movement nurtured his experimental research, and on the other hand New York, another modern art capital which was initially a place of exile in the 1940’s before becoming a creative driving force for the artist in the post-war period.

This immersive exhibition highlights Chagall’s audacious and imaginative style, retracing a variety of themes explored by the artist – fantastic beasts, remarkable characters from the world of the circus, fables and the opera, not forgetting references to Russian culture – all set to classical music and jazz, reminding us of Chagall’s profound link with the world of music.

A must-see.

The Atelier des Lumières is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
