Sophie, negotiator at our District George V agency, reveals her vision of a perfect weekend.
A Saturday in Paris with a friend
11 a.m. – A morning constitutional to rediscover the capital
I love walking in Paris. I leave home around 11am and from the Grande Arche via the Esplanade de la Défense heading towards Etoile, I always go straight ahead, down the Champs Elysees to Concorde and the Tuileries, to the Carrousel, the Pyramide du Louvre and the Cour Carrée. I then branch off to the right and cross the Seine via the Passerelle des Arts from where there is a superb view of both the Right and Left bank. It’s now 1 o’clock and time for a drink with others my age – it’s a well-known rendezvous for Parisians and trendy picnics. I then walk along the quays to the rue de Seine and Luxembourg Gardens, dropping in to say hello to my colleagues in the District Saint Germain agency.
1:30 p.m. – Lunch with a friend
I arrive at the meeting point; my favorite terrace in Paris at the café Rostang in rue Médicis facing Luxembourg Gardens.
I have a runny mushroom and sautéed apple omelette with a glass of Pouilly Fumé, finishing off with a delicious homemade apricot tart. Two hours later, after crossing Luxembourg Gardens from side to side, we are chilling out on the grass.
6 p.m. – A drink in Saint Germain des Prés
Around 6 p.m. we decide to go and have a glass of rosé at the Petit Suisse at the Médicis/Vaugirard junction…
Despite the nip in the air, we opt to sit on the terrace and pass a very pleasant moment as night falls. Then, it’s off to the cinema at Odéon for the 7:30 p.m. screening!
9:30 p.m. – A gourmet break Chez Fernand
At 9:30 p.m. we set our sights on Chez Fernand, a bistro in rue Guisarde behind Place St Sulpice where I went as a teenager with my father. Service is very friendly and the menu boasts great local produce.
It’s almost midnight, and a great Saturday is coming to a close!
