The Saint-Thomas-d’Aquin neighbourhood is the 25th administrative district of Paris. It is located in the 7th arrondissement, between Quai Voltaire (on the northern part of the district), the famous Rue de Sèvres (to the east), and Rue Vaneau (Both to the south and the west).

History

The neighbourhood takes its name from Saint Thomas Aquinas, a member of the Dominican order famous for his theological and philosophical work. This area is one of the liveliest in Paris, it notably adjoins the Saint Germain des Prés district. Together, these neighbourhoods combine charm, beauty and nightlife. This neighbourhood prized by many authors such as Malraux, Gide or Apollinaire will delight and charm all those who venture there.

Cultural sites

  • Musée Maillol: this museum that opened its doors in 1995, presents, on the one hand, the works of Aristide Maillol, and, on the other hand, several ephemeral exhibitions of modern art.
  • Le Bon Marché: a real showcase of the French art of living, this complex brings together ready-to-wear brands on one side and a large grocery store on the other, which is an attraction as entertaining as it is delicious. The building as we know it today was built in 1869.
