The Saint-Lambert neighbourhood is located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, and forms the 57th administrative district of the capital. It is bounded to the north by Rue Mademoiselle and Rue de la Procession, to the south by Boulevard Lefebvre, to the east by Rue Vercingétorix and to the west by Rue Lecourbe and Rue de la Croix Nivert. It is adjacent to Plaisance and Javel neighbourhoods.

History

The Vaugirard former village was annexed to Paris city in 1860, and was later named Saint-Lambert neighbourhood in tribute to the bishop Lambert of Maastricht. Parisians considered the Vaugirard village, with its guinguettes and cabarets, as a pleasant place for country walks in the suburbs near Paris.

Cultural sites

  • La Ruche: this artists’ city has some sixty workshops in the southern part of the Saint-Lambert neighbourhood since 1902.
  • Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette Church: with its resolutely modern design, the building sits enthroned on Rue de Cronstadt in the Saint-Lambert neighbourhood. Its unusual design will certainly delight architecture lovers.

Local landmarks

With more than ten parks, the Saint-Lambert neighbourhood displays a rather urban landscape but has preserved its heritage as a pleasant strolling zone.

 

  • The 14th Arrondissement municipality: located at 2 place Ferdinand Brunot, Paris’s 14th municipality was designed by the architect Claude Naissant and built in the 1850s. Originally intended to be Montrouge city’s municipality, it became the14th arrondissement municipality after the neighbourhood annexation by Paris city in 1860.
  • The house and the workshop of master glassmaker Barillet: built in 1932 for master glassmaker Louis Barillet, this building is located at 15 square Vergennes. Today listed as a historical monument, it is rented by Mendjisky-Écoles de Paris museum in order to guarantee the conservation and enhancement of the artistic works of the two Parisian Schools.
  • Parc des Expositions de Versailles (Versailles Exhibition Park): the largest part of the French Exhibition Park is located at the Saint-Lambert neighbourhood. It hosts major events such as Mondial de l’Auto (Paris Car show), Foire de Paris (Paris Fair) and Salon du Chocolat (Chocolate Fair).
