History

Before 1860, the Javel district was a territory that belonged to the commune of Issy. It was mainly known from the 17th century onwards thanks to its windmill and its guinguette, a fashionable place frequented at the time by bathers, fishermen and canoeists. In 1915, André Citroën set up the brand’s herringbone factories there. They will occupy most of the Javel district until 1975.
